We found several poplar trees behind the shop had grown to a point where they threatened the building from above and from roots below. One of the large conifer shelter belt by the pool was also undermined , we think by rabbits and had to come down. So on a very cold couple of days in February Pete Sofley and crew arrived to fell them. This was done by dismantling rather than felling because of the lack of space, So climber ,Richard Deathridge,alias Deathwish can be seen 25ft up a tree with chain saw taking out sections. The poplars had been topped a few years ago and the crowns had developed bowls which collected water and started to rot ,or in a couple of instances a squirrel's dray, and Richard is scared of squirrels! So we have fresh supply of wood chips , piles of logs for adding to woodland habitat and some logs for our woodburning stove. Good news all round!
